Lenexa is a city in Johnson County, Kansas. It’s located close to the Missouri-Kansas border, on the Missouri River. It is exactly 13.08 miles to Kansas City, Missouri. Lenexa is 34.39 square miles and currently has a population of around 55,000 people. It is the birthplace of Garmin, the regional headquarters of Kiewit Construction and the former headquarters of Applebee’s. It is bordered by the cities of Shawnee to the north, Overland Park to the east, De Soto to the west, and Olathe to the south. People flock to Lenexa because it is an attractive and safe city, with a rich history and a strong, hometown sense of community spirit. Known as the “City of Festivals,” Lenexa is located in western Johnson County with easy access to K-7, I-435, I-35, and I-70. This makes Lenexa a great location to live, work, and play!

The major school district for Lenexa is the Shawnee Mission School District. However, some areas in the city attend the De Soto School District or the Olathe School District. The Shawnee Mission School District is the third largest school district in Kansas with more than 27,000 students and 4,300 employees. The district consists of 34 elementary schools, five middle schools, and five high schools. The district also includes Horizons High School, an Early Childhood Education Center, Signature Programs at the Center for Academic Achievement, and the Career and Technical Campus.
